Prep - Grade 2

Program is delivered over 3 sessions.

Topics include:

Who is in my family

  • How are families similar and different?

  • Why are families important?

  • How do people in my family celebrate each other?

  • Healthy family relationships

My Body

  • Identifying genitals and reproductive organs

  • Discussing the difference between private and public body parts

  • Learning body safety (protective behaviours) strategies

  • Building on the first lesson by identifying 'safe' people in the child's life.

Babies

  • The basics of conception (an egg and a sperm need to come together before a baby can grow)

  • Foetal development

  • Birth

Grade 3 & 4

Program is delivered over 4 sessions.

Topics include:

Students will cover the previous topics in addition to

Body parts, Sex and Gender

  • Genitals and reproductive organs

  • The difference between sex (male/female/intersex) and gender (boy/girl/transgender/non-binary) 

  • Gender stereotypes and how the differ across cultures

  • Challenging limiting gender stereotypes

(Optional) The Basics of Puberty (This can be booked as an optional, fifth one-hour session or as a 1.5-hour stand-alone session.)

  • Body Parts  (if booked as a stand-alone session)

  • Physical changes of puberty

  • Periods

  • Sperm production

  • Common emotional changes


Grade 5 & 6

Program is delivered over 5 sessions.

Topics include:

Bodies and Puberty

  • Anatomy 

  • Sex (male/female/intersex) and gender (boy/girl/transgender/non-binary)

  • Physical changes experienced by all people during puberty

Periods and Sperm Production

  • Ovulation and menstruation

  • Sperm production and wet dreams

Emotions

  • The impact of hormones on emotions

  • Strategies for managing strong emotions

  • Romantic and sexual feelings

  • Sexualities

Sex and Babies

  • Conception (including varied pathways to parenthood beyond sexual intercourse)

  • Foetal development

  • Birth

  • This session includes information about the law, young people and sex.

Respectful Relationships

  • Consent

  • Rights & Responsibilities of relationships

  • Gender, Power and Privilege

  • Online interactions

  • Gaming & Social Media

Optional add-ons

 Body Safety and Healthy Relationships in a Digital Age

  • Consent - Students explore setting and respecting physical boundaries in platonic and romantic relationships

  • Social Media, sex and sexuality including the law, young people and social media use

  • Sexual media literacy - breaking down the messages young people receive in the media including an analysis of sex, power, gender inequality, unrealistic portrayals of bodies and relationships.

Stand Alone Puberty for Years 5-6

Program is delivered over three weeks and follows the first three weeks of the full Year 5-6 program.
