Chami

Chami is a Melbourne-based lawyer and social entrepreneur passionate about empowering communities through education and legal advocacy.

Having migrated from Sri Lanka to Australia as a child, Chami pursued her education passionately, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Psychology and a Juris Doctor from Monash University. She is admitted as a Lawyer by the Supreme Court of Victoria.

In her role at Body Safety Australia, Chami is particularly interested in engaging with communities that face systemic barriers to accessing information. She focuses on teaching prevention strategies for family violence and child sexual abuse, emphasising the importance of proactive education in creating safer environments.

Chami launched Law Wise Youth in 2023 to bridge the educational gap on legal challenges facing young people today, receiving recognition from Women’s Agenda, Lawyers Weekly, and Study Melbourne. She also leads Lejacie, a digital platform that provides freelancers and small business owners with essential resources in legal, branding, and digital media.

She is also a serial entrepreneur, founding a notable e-commerce business featured in Frankie, Girlfriend, and Fashion Journal, and a social media advisory that supports over 50 small businesses.

Beyond her professional roles, Chami is a 2020 NIDA Screen Actors graduate and an engaged content creator. She shares insights on work-life balance and the pursuit of unconventional career paths, inspiring others to build fulfilling, multi-passionate careers. Driven by a passion to empower through knowledge, Chami uses her platform to advocate for informed decision-making and community education.
