Mitali

I’m Mitali, a Junior Program Facilitator at Body Safety Australia, where I add a fresh youth perspective by co-facilitating early childhood and Parent Carer Workshops.

I am a first-year student at RMIT University, pursuing a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology). My journey in advocacy is driven by a passion to address systemic barriers that affect marginalised youth, especially those from the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.

I’m passionate about working with people from diverse backgrounds, deepening my understanding and fuelling my commitment to social change. I have contributed to pivotal discussions like the "Respect: The Future - Consent Education Today" panel, advocating for a more nuanced and intersectional approach to consent education. I was honoured to be part of the founding Youth Advisory Committee at Body Safety Australia and to become the first Junior Program Facilitator to integrate a youth perspective into the programs.

Mental health is a significant area of focus for me, especially understanding how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the mental well-being of young people. I am driven to develop mental health practices that are not only effective but also empathetic and inclusive, shown through my engagement in the Antiracism Cultural Inclusion Club (ARCI), pushing for more inclusive educational environments.

As I continue my educational journey, my goal is to become a psychologist who not only listens but also acts to make mental health care more effective and accessible. I am committed to empowering and uplifting the diverse voices of the next generation through education and advocacy.
